National Wine Day in Moldova first appeared on the Moldovan calendar in 2002. 

This holiday was established in recognition of the enormous importance of winemaking for the country and is celebrated on the first weekend of October under the patronage of the President of Moldova and marks the beginning of the grape harvest.
